After its successful release across the country on Eid-Ul-Azha, Dhallywood megastar Shakib Khan starrer ‘Toofan’ has garnered massive interest among expatriate moviegoers after its global release last Friday.

The Raihan Rafi-directed film was released in more than 100 theatres in 15 countries on June 28, except for India where it was also scheduled to be released on the same day. The film was released on its due date across multiple theatres in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, Sweden, Spain, France, Portugal, Netherlands, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain.

Now it has been revealed by the film’s Indian producer Shree Venkatesh Films (SVF) that the film will have its India release on July 5, one week after its international release. This was also confirmed by Bollywood’s esteemed film critic Taran Adarsh on X (formerly Twitter).

The delay in the release is speculated due to the ongoing cricket craze, courtesy of the recently concluded T-20 World Cup in which India has emerged victorious.

it is also speculated that the India release is delayed as the film may be released in several other languages in India apart from Bengali.

In the US, ‘Toofan’ is being shown in 22 theatres across 12 states, including two theatres in New York City, and will continue its run for a week. Bioscope Films is handling the distribution in the US and Canada, informing several media outlets that the film will be screened in at least 40 more cities across the United States starting July 12.

According to Bongoz Films which is handling ‘Toofan’s distribution in Australia and New Zealand, more than 3,000 tickets have been sold within one week and more shows are coming.

With an ensemble cast led by Dhallywood megastar Shakib Khan, "Toofan" was released in Bangladesh on June 17 and is presently showing in 129 theatres, including Star Cineplex, Modhumita, Blockbuster Cinemas, and Lion Cinemas. After only 10 days of release, the movie has made Tk 25 crore and broke multiple records for major cineplexes in the country.
