Bangladesh Police’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Harunor Rashid has conducted a fake drive with helicopter on hill tracks to arrest two accused killers of lawmaker Anwarul Azim who were in custody earlier, reveals a video obtained by the Mirror Asia.

Under supervision of Harun, Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted the mock drives to get appraisal, sources at DB confirmed.

“There is no one else here except us. The arrest of the two detainees will be shown at two places, one of them will be shown arrested in Dhaka,” Harun said in the video.

Official said police arrested the two persons earlier and kept them in custody. The operation was held only to focus DB credit in investigation of the killing. Two accused -- Mostafizur Rahman and Faisal Ali returned Dhaka on May 19 after killing of Jhenaidah lawmaker Anwarul Azim in Kolkata, DB briefed earlier.

The video footage obtained by The Mirror Asia shows that all instruments of the helicopter raids were pre-set. People involved in the process say that everything was arranged in the hill of Khagrachari. DB's video team has been taken from Dhaka under instruction of DB chief Harunor Rashid.

In the video, DB chief Harun further instructed the cameraperson saying that they will get off the helicopter, and then we will walk along the mountain road. Let capture all accordingly. Is the car is ready (to move)?

“We will take them (arrestees) and run another expedition in Dhaka,” Harun said and asked police colleagues about uniqueness of the planning.

However, Haruror Rashid told media that the two arrested suspects had been staying in a Kali temple in the hilly area of Khagrachhari for 23 days and used to identify themselves as Hindus. The arrestees assumed Hindu names to get shelter in the temple. They told locals that they like to stay with Kali Mata and they won’t leave temple and go anywhere, he added.

DB Police conducted operations by helicopter in different hills of Khagrachhari and Chittagong districts as they had secret information that Faisal and Mostafiz were staying in the hills of Khagrachhari and Chittagong areas.
