Special Branch (SB) chief and Additional IGP Monirul Islam has said militancy is now completely under control in the country.

He said this on Monday while paying tribute to the memory of those killed in the terrorist attack on the Holy Artisan.

The terrorists thought that Bangladesh would not be able to turn around after this terrorist attack, he said.

“Many thought Bangladesh would turn into Afghanistan and more militant attacks would follow. After that we launched an all-out campaign against militancy. Along with the operations based on intelligence information, we’ve adopted various strategies against the militants including awareness campaigns,” said the SB chief.

He also said that militants operate under a wrong ideology. “Because of this suppressing it is a very time consuming and complex process. This ideology still exists. They try to organise online. Law enforcement forces are conducting intelligence, research and field operations against militancy. Militancy is now fully under control.”
